Here's a scholarly article I wrote for The Nabokovian in which I propose the theory that Vladimir Nabokov's source of inspiration for the name "Dolores Haze" in Lolita was the little-remembered film Slattery's Hurricane, written by Herman Wouk and starring Veronica Lake.
